西葡記 (7) - Toledo (杜麗多古城)- Day 5 -12/27/16 @ 隨心而行

這家 Barcelo Torre Arias Hotel (Occidental Madrid Este) 的早餐是整個行程中，我最喜歡歡的其中一家。有非常多的水果，過往只知新西蘭奇異果清甜，原來西班牙奇異果也很味美；酒店更有鮮搾橙汁提供，不消一會便給我們團隊喝光，需要加添鮮橙。

想不到西班牙的牛角包竟然很酥脆，而那條貌似很硬的條狀物體，原來是鬼佬油炸鬼，味道跟中式的差不多，不點在榛子醬上吃也同樣好吃。

今天開始杜麗多古城遊。我覺得很奇怪，1998年，我曾經來過古城，但舊地重遊，竟然對古城面貌一點印象也沒有。依稀記得當年，在一個路邊高居臨下遠眺古城，去過一座教堂，看過世界十大名畫之一， El Greco 的『伯爵的葬禮』，還參觀冶金工場買手信。

Toledo Cathedral(杜麗多主教座堂)

杜麗多主教座堂源自六世紀，當時奉西哥德王之命而建造的。但在回教徒統治時代，曾被改建為清真寺，至1226年西班牙皇室為了紀念成功擊退阿拉伯人而重新修建，此工程延續了3個世紀直到1493年才完成最後的拱頂。故融合了哥德式、西班牙式建築風格，內部裝潢更是有穆德哈爾的藝術風。大堂正面最突出的部分是由3座門構成，分別是地獄之門、寬恕之門和審判之門。

金壁輝煌的聖器室(The Chapel of the Treasure)

大教堂的鎮館之寶，The Great Monstrance of Arfe「黃金聖體」，一共有5600塊零件組成，超過十英尺高，重 180 公斤 (400磅)，有260個各種尺寸的天使和聖徒雕像，裝飾寶石等，以純金及寶石打造而成，被裝在防彈玻璃裡。

領隊說，想想當時西班牙的國力，如果西班牙國王把這些寶物投放在國家的經濟和軍事的發展，可能歷史會改寫，不會打敗仗而被敵國統治。

但宗教的力量，是沒話說的。

黃金聖體實在太燦爛，所以看不清圖片吧！上面刻滿天使雕像。

紅帽在空中懸掛之位置，地下埋葬著當時的主教。自古以來杜麗多也是樞機主教的教區，主教逝世後也會葬於此大教堂，並將他們的帽子懸吊掛在墓穴上方。

大教堂原本光線暗淡，直到大主教 Diego de Astorgay Céspedes 命雕刻家 Narcisco Tomé 及他的四位兒子在巴洛克式祭壇上方的屋頂，開鑿一洞引進陽光。工程1732年完成

Transparente refers to the unique illumination provided by a large skylight cut very high up into the thick wall across the ambulatory, and another hole cut into the back of the altarpiece itself to allow shafts of sunlight to strike the tabernacle. This lower hole also allows persons in the ambulatory to see through the altarpiece to the tabernacle, as if were transparent, so to speak. It was created in 1729-1732 by Narciso Tomé and his four sons (two architects, one painter and one sculptor). The use of light and of mixed materials (marble, bronze, paint, stucco) may reflect the influence of Bernini's Cathedra Petri in St Peter's Basilica, Rome.

Not only was a skylight cut into the top of the thick back wall of the cathedral across the ambulatory behind the high altar, but another hole was cut into the high altar itself to allow the shafts of sunlight to illuminate the tabernacle like a spotlight.

After the two holes were cut, Tomé and his sons designed a way to visually connect the two by sculpting a fantastic company of angels, saints, prophets and cardinals. Abstract designs suggesting flowing robes and foliage hang over corners to mask the details of the architectural piercings. Along the edges of the skylight they arranged an array of Biblical figures who seem to tumble into the cathedral. At the outer edge of the opening sits Christ on a bank of clouds and surrounded by angels. The back side of the altarpiece was converted to a tower of marble which reaches from the floor to the ceiling. Intricate groups of figures were assembled so that the opening to the tabernacle could be hidden yet permit light to pass through.

位於大教堂正中心的是唱詩班壇(Coro)，壇內座位席分為上下兩層，下層的木雕座位刻有54個征服回教徒格拉那達王朝戰爭的故事，上層的座位以大理石柱作為區別，分別刻畫著舊約聖經裡的人物。最上方是巨大管風琴，兩側都有音管，作環迴立體聲效果。

唱詩班壇對面是主聖壇(Capilla Mayor)，聖壇中央的巨幅屏風(Retable)共有五層，從最底座鍍銀的聖母聖嬰像，至最高層的耶穌受難像，看得眼花繚亂。

看完教堂後，只能嘆一句，參觀的時間真的太少了！我更疑惑是，我到底上次有沒有參觀過這個教堂，怎麼一點印象也沒有？ *^#(^ 不是我幹的

教堂內還有聖器收藏室(Sacristy) ，包括名畫家El Greco的「脫掉基督的外衣」( The Spoliation / The Disrobing of Christ ) ，以及人手一絲不苟釘裝，由1226-1234年製作，超過數千頁，每頁人手貼上金箔及手繪的黃金聖經三卷」(BIBLIA DE SAN LUIS 3 Vol.)。
